Reiki Meditations
Reiki meditations take two different aspects and merge them into one effort. Reiki, a healing art that originated in Japan, is the practice of the healing of the spiritual, physical and mental. Reiki is the belief that the body can be healed through the life energy that surrounds each living thing. Masters of the Reiki art can perform healing through the laying of hands. Their healing is done by balancing the energies of the body and promoting a quicker recovery. It can be used in conjunction with modern medicine.
The second aspect of Reiki meditations is the meditation itself. Meditations, originating in India, is the art of finding inner balance, peace and insight. Meditations allow one to focus on their own energies and spirit. Meditation is also commonly used as an aid in prayer.
Reiki meditation is a combination of both of these things. The meditations are used to allow the practictioner to concentrate and focus on their own spirit and life energy. As focus is reached, the Reiki is added to the meditation. This 'distance' Reiki is the art of sending prayers for the person being treated, and reaching across the distance to give them the gift of Reiki. Depending on your master of Reiki, this can be a general outflowing of healing energy, or Reiki that is more targeted to specific problems that need addressed.
Reiki meditations are typically used by more advanced students, as many who practice Reiki do not believe they have the mental focus to practice meditations. As Reiki is considered to be a somewhat active method of healing, with the thoughts and energies being focused onto the person being healed, those who practice Reiki often have busy minds, which does not match well with meditations. However, as Reiki meditations are to better focus the thoughts and spirt, those who do master it tend to be better at Reiki as a result.
There are few people that will teach Reiki meditations, as this form of meditation is a blend of two different schools. On account of this, you will often have to find a Reiki instructor and a meditaiton instructor, and learn how to merge the two on your own. As Reiki is often considered very personal, and Meditation can be even more so, many prefer to learn how to merge them on their own. However, there are some instructors available who can teach this art, although they are much less common that simple Reiki and Meditation instructors.
